The sandwich wasn’t in the bag???

On Friday C stopped by Arby’s to bring home sandwiches for lunch. She got home and there was only one sandwich in the bag. They had left out one. So since she needed to eat and get back to work, I told her I would go by and pick up the missing sandwich while out running errands.

I go inside Arby’s, with the receipt and tell the woman at the counter that one of our sandwiches was missing from the order and I would like the sandwich. She said “The sandwich wasn’t in the bag?”. I responded that it was not. She then asked if I wanted the sandwich or the money back. I told her the sandwich (at this point, I still hadn’t had lunch). She turned and talked to a female in a blue shirt, I assume a manager(?). This person came to the counter and also asked me, “The sandwich wasn’t in the bag?”. Again, I said it was not. She then asked me if I wanted the sandwich or the money. Again I said the sandwich. Read More…

Milo burger and tea

I had my first taste of a Milo burger yesterday. C went to Birmingham this weekend and brought back this special treat for me. Although it had to be heated via microwave, it was very tasty. She said they are even better when fresh.

Eventhough this was my first Milo burger experience, I have had their iced tea before and it is the best tea I have ever had. I was very excited when I found gallon jugs of this wonderful brew in the grocery in Nashville. It was the first tea that I found with artificial sweetner. Before being diagnosed a few years ago with diabetes, I would drink sweet tea by the truck load–I’m sure this had nothing to do with high blood sugars…..Anyway, I got hooked on the Milo tea made with Splenda. I can make tea but there is just something about Milo’s tea that is better than any I’ve had before.

When I moved to Atlanta, I couldn’t find Milo’s tea in the stores here. I gave up and settled for Kroger’s or just switched back to Diet Coke instead. For some reason it never occured to me to check the internet for a Milo’s site to search for a store in the area that sold the tea. I didn’t think about it until C brought the burgers and tea home for me to try. I checked their website tonight and am happy to report there are stores right in our town that sell the tea! I’ll be picking some up tomorrow!

What would be absolutely wonderful is if there were a place to get the Milo burgers and fries for C! YAH!!

Moving

Well the movers have been scheduled. Thursday the 17th is the BIG day! All of my belongings will be moved to C’s house and we will “officially” begin our life together. Although Jackson and I have been here for almost 3 weeks without spending a night at my apartment. I’ve gone by to check the mail, pick up a few things, etc. I have never felt more “at home” than I have with C. I’ve told her that the past few times that I have gone by my apt that I feel very out of place there. I know it’s my stuff there but it is not home. Read More…

New Opportunity!

My best friend from church, Martyn, works for a company in Duluth called Napa Home & Garden. They wholesale home and garden items to stores from Neiman Marcus to K-mart. The company is very successful and growing by leaps and bounds. He called me last Thursday to tell me there was a job opening he thought I might be interested in. The position is supporting the CFO and Customer Service Manager. It will be some project management, some accounts receivables and payable, working with high profile clients, training and whatever else comes along the way.

The job sounded like something right up my alley. I am organized, can multi-task, hate to be bored and want to enjoy my job. I was with Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville for 12 years. I loved all of the jobs I had during my time there. If I hadn’t decided to move to Atlanta, I believe I would have ended up retiring from there. Read More…

Niece and great nephew

I have a niece that I dearly love. Although my sister gave birth to her, she is really my child. My niece and I are much more alike than she and my sister (her mother) or my sister and me for that fact.

My sister has always been rail thin, dark hair, eyes, skin tone, etc. Then there’s me, almost always a little heavier than I would like, greying brunette hair, hazel eyes that can’t go long w/o sunglasses and a skin tone that has decided to burn easier than it used to as I get older.  My niece is pretty much a carbon copy of me. Except that she wears her hair longer than I ever wanted, I feel like I am looking into the mirror of my youth around her. Read More…

New Year, New Blogger

Well, I finally decided to take the plunge…..starting a blog. Seems a little odd, a little scary to me to write about myself, my life, etc and let people read about it. It’s really easy for me to be a big ham and make people laugh when in a group. It’s the one on one or letting people in too close that is tough for me. So bear with me and see how this all unfolds.

My blog name….jack is short for jackson….my sweet little 6 year old jack russell mix. He has been with me for 5 years. I adopted him from the Nashville Humane Association. During the summer they hold doggie adoption day several times during the summer. I went looking for a female puppy Westie. Jackson was about the 150th (seriously) dog that I looked at that day. He wasn’t at all what I was looking for but we had a connection. I walked with him for about 30 minutes, left the site, got a diet coke and thought about it. I went back to the site and asked Jackson if he wanted to come home with me. He literally started jumping up about 4 feet in the air. I wrote the check, got his records and tags and off we went.
